GENERAL BUSINESS FAQ
How long have you been in business?
Paws to Pavement Dog Walking was founded in June 2012 in San Diego, CA. It started with a handful of Kristin's longtime clients and grew from there into one of the largest, 5-star Yelp rated, pet care businesses in the city. In 2019, Kristin and her wife, Liz decided to return to Los Angeles and open Paws to Pavement LA.
how large is the business?
Paws to Pavement LA is a two woman show and we plan to keep it that way. Our business was much larger in San Diego with around 30 staff members. Having had the experience of running a larger company, we've decided we prefer to keep it small so that we can give each and every client and pup the absolute best customer service experience they can have. There's no need to ever worry about a stranger in your home or that your walker might quit without notice. With Paws to Pavement LA, Kristin and Liz are the only two dog walkers you'll ever have or need.
are you licensed?
Paws to Pavement LA carries all business licenses and permits required by the City of Los Angeles and we are happy to produce them upon request.
are you bonded and insured?
You bet! Paws to Pavement LA is fully bonded and insured through Pet Sitters Associates LLC. We are happy to produce a copy of our policy upon request and go over it with you in more detail.
are you pet first aid certified?
Absolutely! Kristin and Liz of Paws to Pavement LA have both completed their pet first aid certifications. We pride ourselves on quality of care and want you to rest assured that your pet is in the best possible hands.
how much experience do you have?
Kristin has been walking dogs and sitting cats since 2009 when she started as a private dog walker in the San Diego area. By 2012, she opened Paws to Pavement. She has a wealth of experience with dogs of all sizes and temperaments. Her specialty is anxiety prone and leash aggressive dogs. Liz on the other hand has been in the business since high school when she started her own private pet sitting company in Eagle Rock. She joined Paws to Pavement in 2015 as the resident dog whisperer. Her specialty is pack walking and group socialization.
do you have pets of your own?
Of course we do! Our macho man chiweenie is named Dodger and he is a healthy 9 years old. Our older guy, Chuy, is a miniature poodle. He is blind and diabetic, but smart as a whip and still loves his walks. Last but not least, we have a 5 year old black kitty named BK, who is reigning Queen over all.
how do i pay?
Paws to Pavement accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Discover card payments. We will gather your payment information before the start of your service and our Pet Check Technology billing system will automatically charge the card you have on file each Monday for the prior week's service.
what is your cancellation policy?
Paws to Pavement has a 24 hour cancellation policy. Cancellations requested with less than 24 hours notice will be charged for the full amount of the service. While we hate to charge anyone for a service they did not receive, please understand that we have limited scheduling availability and reserving time for you means that we are denying it to someone else. For that reason, if we do not receive adequate notice, we must charge you for the time.
DOG WALKING & PET SITTING QUESTIONS
WHAT hours do you walk dogs?
We offer regular weekly dog walks Monday through Friday between the hours of 9AM - 5PM and Saturday and Sunday between 10AM-4PM. We offer pet sitting visits and as needed visits 7 days per week between 8AM - 8PM.
do you offer weekend visits?
Yes, we walk 7 days per week. However, please note that since we are only two walkers, our weekend time slots tend to book up very quickly.
what if it's raining?
We walk rain or shine, unless you specify otherwise. We do request that you leave a towel to dry off your dog so that they don't track mud into the house.
what is a "meet & Greet"?
A "meet and greet" is a short interview that we will schedule with you and your dog prior to the start of service. It gives you a chance to get to know us and vice versa. We'll go over your pet's routine and your service expectations as well as explaining how our service works and making sure that we are the best fit for your dog walking needs.
do you need my house keys?
Paws to Pavement requests two copies or your house key unless you have made other arrangements for us to access your pets. If you'd like to leave a spare key under the mat or give us the gate code, we are happy with alternative entry methods.
will my pet have the same sitter all the time?
Paws to Pavement is a team of two walkers, Kristin and Liz. One of us will be your designated walker, but the other may need to fill in from time to time depending on scheduling availability or in case of emergency.
do you offer private walks?
Absolutely! Your pup gets us all to themselves for just $5 more per walk.
my dog has not been altered. are they eligible for walks?
We will gladly walk unaltered pets. However, we are unable to include them in our group walks. If your pet is unaltered, you would need to book a private walk for an additional $5 charge.
DOG BOARDING QUESTIONS
DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS FOR MULTIPLE PETS?
will my dog be taken for walks while boarding with you?
Definitely! Unless you specify otherwise, your pup will go on a morning, late afternoon, and night time walk with his sleepover mates. If you have an older dog who needs less or a high-energy dog who needs more, we're happy to work out an exercise or snuggle regiment that fits your dogs needs.
do you have any outdoor areas?
Absolutely! Your dog will have access to our backyard and patio area where they can run and play to their heart's content. Our backyard is fully enclosed with 8 foot fencing and walls to ensure they stay inside where they belong.
should i bring my dog's treats, toys, bedding, etc.?
Of course! Please send all the things your dog will need to feel at home in our home. We provide plenty of structured walk and playtime as well as a plethora of dog toys and dog beds to choose from. However, we understand that some pups, like people, just prefer to have their own things.
are you able to administer medications?
Yes. We are happy to administer any oral or topical medications that your dog requires. Because we have a diabetic pup of our own, we are also very well practiced and comfortable with subcutaneous injections.
is there air conditioning?
Most definitely! We have central heating and cooling throughout our home. We keep it a comfortable 76 degrees inside throughout the "dog days" of summer.
my dog isn't friendly with other dogs, can they still be boarded?
Unfortunately, at this time, we are only able to accept social dogs for boarding. Check out our pet sitting services to see if we might be able to help your out in your home.
How many dogs do you board at a time?
In order to keep your dogs and our own in a calm and comfortable group, we board a maximum of three dogs per night.
what time can i drop off/pick up my dog?
We are very flexible with our drop off and pick up times for boarding. We can work out a time that works with your schedule. We only ask that you pick up and drop off between the hours of 9AM - 9PM and please give us advanced notice of your arrival time.
